寳金総長は、水産科学研究院 上廣海洋学分野 主任の笠井亮秀教授、副主任の上野洋路教授とともに、2025年12月16日から18日にかけてハワイ大学マノア校を訪問しました。滞在中には、ハワイ大学のWendy Hensel学長および沖縄科学技術大学院大学（OIST）のKarin Markides学長らと意見交換を行い、海洋学分野における教育・研究を共同で推進する「Operation UMI」を発展させていくことで合意しました。

President Houkin visited the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa from December 16 to 18, 2025, together with Professor Akihide Kasai, Chairman of the Uehiro Laboratory for Oceanography, Faculty of Fisheries Sciences, and Professor Hiromichi Ueno, Vice Chair of the laboratory. During the visit, they held discussions with President Wendy Hensel of the University of Hawaiʻi and President Karin Markides of the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), and agreed to further develop “Operation UMI,” a joint initiative to promote education and research in the field of oceanography.
