Laboratory Introduction

Thanks to the development of the science, our life span has been lengthened. The scientific development, however, caused social problems such as diseases related to the aging and non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Dietary habit is closely related to maintaining health and preventing NCDs. Some elements of dietary can contribute to the prevention of NCDs by regulating immune cells such as macrophages. Through the process of storing, cooking and processing, our laboratory is investigating the unrevealed and unused marine bio-resources to use them as food resource. In addition, to propose new functional foods to prevent NCDs, we study the responses and mechanism of the immune system by experimenting on animals and cells. Most of the new discoveries in science usually begin with curiosity or interest, not difficult hypothesizes or principles. Students who are interested in food and dietary habit will be welcomed.
