教員からのメッセージ
魚類は、哺乳類などに比べて太古に分化した脊椎動物であり、現在までに進化を重ねて、種毎に膨大な多様性を持つに至りました。生殖や成長機構も多岐に渡り、研究対象として大変面白い種も沢山います。個々の種の生殖メカニズムについて、同じ点や異なる点を探し、それらを明らかにして人の手で制御することで、養殖などの産業につなげます。魚の体内で働いている生殖や成長関連の遺伝子やタンパク質などを解析し、それを人為的に制御することで、未来の資源確保や食糧難に備える技術を開発していきたいと思います。
